Poster Ryan Reynolds Stars As Hal Jordan Green Lantern Trailer and Photos. Ryan Reynolds is coming to save the summer.

The actor stars in the blockbuster film adaptation of a beloved DC comic book, taking on the role of Hal Jordan in "The Green Lantern." Produced by Warner Bros., the film is a CGI-filled epic that puts Reynolds at the center of both earth-bound and space-focused story lines.

Reynolds and Warner Bros. presented a new poster and, more importantly, an extended trailer for the film at the movie convention WonderCon over the weekend. It was shown to great applause, a relief to producers who saw their initial, unpolished trailer panned in November.

Reynolds gave a panel talk about his take on the film.

"Oh, it's huge," he said (via ComingSoon.net) of the extended clip going over well with the audience. "I mean, I'm also a fan. I want it to be good just primarily from that level. It's a huge weight. It buoys you in a really big way. It's a totally different experience, seeing it with an audience that it's designed for. Seeing it with that group of people out there was just electrifying. If it had gone the other way, it would have been a huge disaster. So it's really great to see that they're getting it right."

Jordan, in Green Lantern history, is actually the second person to wear the power-giving ring; when DC comics reintroduced the character in the 1950's, Jordan was given the ring by the Guardians of the Universe and soon became a runaway hit for the comic book label. Along with Superman and Batman, he helped found the Justice League of America, a convenient plot point for Warner Brothers as they look toward making a film version of that gigantic team of heroes.

And, of course, as is Hollywood's tradition, the producer of the film says they're already working on the script for a sequel.

Courteney Cox Holds Her Bikini Photos. Courteney Cox and 'Cougar Town' costar Josh Hopkins are still enjoying some beach time in St. Barts, where they were snapped earlier this week, and Bauer Griffin has the photos.

Courteney Cox and her Cougar Town co-star Josh Hopkins appear to enjoy each others' swimsuit-clad company off set as on.

Yesterday, the toned twosome were spotted splashing in the surf of Saint Barthelemy. It was some pretty serious splashing, considering they both seemed to have trouble keeping their swimsuits attached to their bodies.

Savannah Cat Silver F1

Savannah Cat Silver F1. A fabulous looking cat. The photograph was taken by Kathrin Stucki who owns and manages A1 Savannahs with her husband Martin. She has a photographic studio amongst the cats. This is very convenient if you want or need to do cat photography, which is a part of the business for Kathrin.

I love the focused, wild looking face and strong gaze, directly into the camera. The high contrast spotted coat and that brown pigmentation on the bridge of the nose are also stand out features for me. Is that a sign of a wildcat heritage? I am not sure but I see it on a lot of wildcat hybrids, and some random bred cats too.

On a technical note and photographically speaking the photograph is slightly unconventional. Helmi Flick, the famous cat photographer, uses a short telephoto lens (say about 85 mm on 35 mm format). This flattens the perspective a little and is considered ideal for portraiture, which this is.

In this photo of a silver F1 Savannah cat the focal length of the lens is standard or probably slightly wide ange. This results in the head being large in relation to the body as it is nearer the camera. It does provide a great immediacy and connection with the viewer but in terms of classic portraiture it is not conventional.

You can see the rangy body and long legs reflecting the serval parent. The serval has the longest legs to body size of all the wildcats including the cheetah.

The Ice Cream Sundae Google doodle celebrates

The Ice Cream Sundae Google doodle celebrates. When hopping over to Google this morning, we were surprised to see the small logo indicating a doodle was present – given that the big G only just doodled Robert Bunsen’s birthday on Thursday.

So what’s this doodle in celebration of? The ice cream sundae, no less. Yes, you read correctly, Google is marking the 119th anniversary of the invention of this chilled dessert with sprinkles aplenty.

There is some controversy about exactly who invented the first ice cream sundae, but the first historically documented effort came about on April 3rd 1892, in Ithaca, New York. When an ice cream truck collided with a syrup tanker.

Of course not (the first motor truck wasn’t even invented then, for one thing). It was actually when Chester Platt served church minister John Scott some ice cream at his pharmacy’s day and night “Soda Fountain”.

Platt decided to top the ice cream with candied cherries and syrup, leading to the birth of the first Cherry Sunday, which both men thought delicious. Thereafter, the ice cream speciality was served every Sunday, branching out into strawberry and chocolate flavours.

There may, however, be another reason behind the doodle other than the celebration of ice cream, syrup and wafer heaven.

Google’s successor to Gingerbread is codenamed Ice Cream, and this could be a reference to the fact that the refreshed OS is on the way this quarter. Or that it’s going to be called Ice Cream Sundae as its full name, perhaps.

Leon Russell, Elton John appear on “Saturday Night Live. Live from New York, it’s the “Rocket Man” and the “Master of Space and Time,” uniting once again.

British pop superstar Elton John will do double duty as both host and musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” during this weekend’s episode of the long-running sketch show. His recent duet partner and Oklahoma icon Leon Russell will join him for the program’s musical performances.

“SNL” airs at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on NBC.

This Saturday’s episode will mark John’s first time back on the “SNL” stage since 1982, when he played the songs “Empty Garden” and “Ball and Chain,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Uncle Leon and his then-wife Mary Russell were musical guests on “SNL” back in 1976, according to IMDB.

The singer/songwriter/pianist pair was in New York last month when John ushered Russell into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Russell (and Owasso resident Garth Brooks) will be back in NYC June 16 for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

John and Russell have made several high-profile TV appearances together since releasing their collaborative album “The Union” last fall. “The Union” debuted in October at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, earned a Grammy nomination for best pop collaboration with vocals for lead single “If It Wasn’t for Bad” and sparked a dramatic career resurgence for Russell, who had fallen into relative obscurity after playing a pivotal role on the rock ‘n’ roll scene in the 1960s and ‘70s.

Russell’s top ‘70s classics have been compiled into a new CD and digital collection, “The Best of Leon Russell,” which will be released Tuesday by Capitol/EMI.

In addition, the documentary “The Union,” which director Cameron Crowe (“Almost Famous,” “Jerry Maguire”) shot about the making of the pair’s collaborative album, will make its world premiere April 20, opening the 10th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
